Q: WHO ARE YOU?
A: Doktor haus. It's pronounced "Doctor House", not "Hoss" or "Hoose" or "Throatwobbler Mangrove" I grew up in Alabama, but moved to Tennessee in 2016. My birthday falls on Groundhog Day, which is a great movie. I collect OKKVLT books, love coffee and my catchphrase is "Stay fresh, cheese bags!"
Q: WHY DO YOU MOD?
A: For the same reason I started: I want to see a gun, character etc. in a game.
Q: WHEN & WHY DID YOU START?
A: My first mod was released on GameBanana in 2011, which sounds right. Once I learned that no one does requests, I took matters into my own hands and started to learn modding.
Q: WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST MOD?
A: My first one was awful; it had much lower standards than today and at one point, the slide scrunched up like an accordion. My first L4D2 mod must have been a recompile of Lanky's 454 Casull. Back then, there wasn't a wealth of tutorials like there are today, so I (and many other veteran modders) had to learn through trial and error, asking questions and in my case, begging arby26 for his source files. He taught me a lot of what I know and was even kind enough to fulfill several requests, and even though he doesn't mod L4D2 anymore, big thanks are due. Down the road, I met Splinks, K1CHWA, Pajama, Zeq and others who taught me their individual specialties, so many thanks go out to them as well.
Q: WHAT ARE SOME PERSONAL ACHIEVEMENTS?
A:
Q: FAVORITE MOD YOU WORKED ON?
A: Hitman Silverballer (long slide)
It was the last request I gave to arby26. It cost a few bucks too, but I had complete control over how it turned out (BTW requesters, if you really want something done, pay for it!). I made sure it was as accurate as possible to the version from Blood Money (Absolution wasn't out at the time), right down to the engravings, grips, glow sights, even the metric measurement of the long slide (sexy). Then K1CHWA added his touch to the flashlight and leather grips and Prophet/Yogensia modeled a few spare parts (skeletal trigger, extended thumb safety and slide release). I guess that's why I've compiled it for every Source engine game ever.
Q: WHAT'S IN A NAME?
A: "Doktor haus" is obviously a German play-on-words, referencing the titular character of House MD, the US TV show. However, it was mainly inspired by two of my favorite bands: Bauhaus and The Sisters of Mercy, whose drum machine is named "Doktor Avalanche". More useless trivia: The fonts I use for my name everywhere are the same used for those bands' logos. It's also why I don't capitalize "h".
Q: WHAT DO YOU DO WITH YOUR FREE TIME?
A: Besides modding, I create music. Over the years, I've had several solo projects playing everything from goth rock to black metal. I also dabble in voice acting; I've been in several L4D2 campaigns and the lovely Interesting NPCs mod for Skyrim.
If you have any more questions, feel free to ask. I'm not a pretentious modding god/Zoey fapper like the rest.
